My great grandfather Pierre Escalle came to the United States of America and arrived in California 13 Dec 1888.  By trade he was a carpenter as was his father Pierre and he was a stone mason in St. Eusebe en Champsaur, Hautes-Alpes, France.  He initially resided in Los Angeles, then on to Beaumont where he also was a fruit tree farmer.  Later he would build his home in La Crescenta area of California.  His wife, my great grandmother Marie-Emilie-Rosalie Feutrier, along with two of their children came to the USA in the year of 21 Sep 1891.  Pierre's brothers Mari-Zozime and Mari-Constant-Gustave Escalle would also follow...but only to return a few years later...and never to return to the USA.  To my surprise I find my family back in St. Eusebe when the French 1900 census was taken.  But they do indeed return as their last three children are born in Cailifornia.   I started my research in St. Eusebe on the Escalle line and found out I had several other Escalle lines, one from the village of Les Costes, one from Molines en Champsaur, one from La Motte en Champsaur, one from Aubessagne and one from St. Bonnet.
